With people not paying the rent, will there be a demand for rental properties in the future?

There is no doubt in my mind that there may even be more demand for rental properties. For one, we are holding back new construction. For another, to finance is more difficult. Also, I was joking in the last OzBuzz about the Wuhan divorce rate following the lockdown. Seriously though, the stress on a debt-ridden society may very well force people to downsize from ownership into rental. If there is a higher divorce rate…that could mean one house ends up in 2 rental condos.
