Q: I am thinking of buying a condominium as an investment in Edmonton, but am concerned about overbuilding. What are your thoughts?

A: At a recent conference, I called Edmonton “the best place to buy” a single-family home (average price stands at $367,000 versus Vancouver’s $1.1 million) and a fine opportunity for cash flow. Condos are still oversupplied, but prices (down about six per cent over last year) allow an investor a good return.
