Q: I do not want to incur real estate commissions, as my home is an easy sell. Where can I find out information about how to do it?

A: Forms can be obtained at your stationery store. There are a number of by-owner websites and programs, but the easiest way to advertise your property maybe on www.craigslist.com, www.kijiji.ca or chat about it at www.realestatetalks.com.

Myself? I want maximum exposure to get the best price. I always hire a practicing professional realtor.

The biggest oversight with for sale by owners is their lack of liability insurance a licensed professional realtor is held to same standard as a lawyer or doctor, they not only market your home for sale, utilizing home stagers and a good network of screened and professional contractors should you need any, but they will have been trained in negotiations, contract law, offer and compromise, market pricing and evaluation, market research, Critical thinking and have to constantly stay on top of the industry, law and legal changes. While you can save some money on paying for a professional, there is a common risk of under pricing or selling your home for less and also a risk of being open to legal recourse down the road. More often than not the right licensed realtor will pay for his/her cost over and over.
