Q: I would like to buy a ski condo in a resort in B.C. What should I look out for? Which one would you recommend?

A: I love skiing. Buy them all. But if you mean which has the best appreciation potential . buy in a resort where there is more than just a lift and a parking lot.

There has to be some après-ski. Buy where visible investment has gone in.

Buy a resort that has skiing but also golf -a two-legged resort (summer and winter income) is always better. Buy in the summer.

Buy year-round personal-use ownership even if you wish to rent it. Stay away from time share, quarter-share and hotel-type investments. It is a good time to buy. Most resorts are down in price by between 20 and 40 per cent!
